The 2019 NFL Draft is finally here and tonight your Philadelphia Eagles will select #25 overall after their 9-7 roller coaster of a season.
With such a late 1st round pick, it’s pretty cloudy on what exactly the Eagles will do. There have been rumors of them trading up into the teens, drafting Player X, Y, or Z and etc. Both sides of the ball need help so any selection outside of Quarterback or Special Teams personnel in the 1st wouldn’t be too much of a surprise. But what should they do? That’s the question we’re all asking.
Currently, the favorites for pick #25 are Alabama RB Josh Jacobs followed by the speedy Oklahoma WR Marquise Brown, and DB DeAndre Baker out of Georgia. Would any of these prospects be the right pick based off of what the Eagles need?
Eagles first round pick odds
Josh Jacobs: +600
Marquise Brown: +800
Deandre Baker: +1200
Jeffrey Simmons: +1400
Johnathan Abram: +1600
Garrett Bradbury: +1600
Dexter Lawrence: +1600
AJ Brown: +1800@DKSportsbook

After an epic showing in the season before, the Eagles offense was quite disappointing in 2018-19. The team ranked just 18th in Points (22.9 per game) and 28th in rushing yards (98.1 per game).
Although the team did add a weapon in DeSean Jackson and will presumably get a healthy Carson Wentz back, you can’t be comfortable with just those additions. Brandon Brooks will likely miss a majority of the season due to the Achilles injury he suffered in the Playoffs and Golden Tate departed to New York in Free Agency.
It’s clear that this Eagles offense is missing something. Whether that may be some more protection along the offensive line or an explosive playmaker at RB or WR, they need to do something.
Potential 1st Rd Selections (Offense)
RBs – Josh Jacobs
WRs – Marquise Brown
OL – Cody Ford
The Eagles have been known for their defense since Pederson arrived 3 seasons ago and last year’s performance may have been the team’s worst showing on that side of the ball during his time here. In 2018 the Eagles gave up 366.2 YDS/G (23rd) and 21.8 PPG (12th). All in all, those are pretty average numbers compared to recent seasons.
Although the team will get a handful of players back after season ending injuries and added Malik Jackson and Vinny Curry, they could still use more help. Michael Bennett was traded to New England, Jordan Hicks departed to Arizona, and it’s unlikely that Chris Long will return.
Currently, the team still has a hole at the linebacker position and many feel they could address all other positions whether that may be for just youth/depth or an actual need for a starter.
Potential 1st Rd Selections (Defense)
DBs – Greedy Williams
S – Nasir Adderley
LB – Devin Bush
DL – Rashan Gary
