How Mike Daniels to the Eagles Makes Sense

It isn’t training camp unless there is a few surprise cuts that come along the way. Appears that we have already found our first of the season! Earlier today the Packers released Pro Bowl defensive tackle/defensive end, Mike Daniels.

The move might be a shock to some, but this is the reality of the NFL. Daniels suffered a season-ending foot injury last year and he’s already in his 30’s. He’s not the same player from his 2017 Pro Bowl season so saving cap space and moving on isn’t the worst move for them. At least, that’s what the Packers have to hope for.

Now to the point of this whole piece: Mike Daniels is exactly what the Eagles need.

Daniels’s ability to play inside and outside on the defensive line is a huge need. Daniels could essentially be the Chris Long replacement with the ability of playing inside.

It’s also not like Daniels would be taking a spot of a promising player either. I have the Eagles keeping 10 defensive line (Graham, Cox, Jackson, Barnett, Curry, Jernigan, Sweat, Miller, Ridgeway and Hester). Signing Daniels would basically be like replacing Treyvon Hester or Hassan Ridgeway with a much better and versatile player.

I think it’s a no brainer for Howie and even Daniels. The Eagles have a need for him, he will play, and he will be effective. Get him in Philly!
