The NFL Schedule release went down just two days ago and the Eagles like the other 31 teams found out their path for the 2019 season.
Overall, the Eagles made out quite nice. A lot of their tougher games (New England, Seattle, Chicago) will be played at Lincoln Financial although they do have to play guys like Aaron Rodgers and Julio Jones on the road. And just like every season the team will travel down to Texas to face their division rival Cowboys.
Below is my week to week prediction for your 2019 Eagles. After a roller coaster of season last year I expect some smooth sailing this time around.
Week 1: Eagles vs. Redskins
Opening up at home against a division rival should be fun. With Washington’s questionable Quarterback play and key departures in Free Agency, expect the Eagles to come out on top in this match-up.
Week 2: Eagles @ Falcons
Atlanta and Philadelphia have had some fun matchups over the last few years with the last two coming down to the last play of regulation (Eagles winning both). With Julio Jones on the opposing side this will be a hard fought game but a win nonetheless for your Eagles.
Week 3: Eagles vs. Lions
Quite frankly, the Lions are not good. Philadelphia should handle them with ease if everything goes accordingly.
Week 4: Eagles @ Packers
Aaron Rodgers has a scary good track record against the Eagles and after a bit of a down season where he was injured and saw his team miss the Playoffs, expect him to come into the 2019 season on a mission.
If this game was at home I’d feel a bit more confident but I think the Eagles ultimately suffer their first loss on the season at Lambeau Field.
Week 5: Eagles vs. Jets
The Jets are arguably the most improved team in the league this year but I’m still not sold on the quarterback play of Sam Darnold. I see the Eagles defense forcing a lot of turnovers this game and ultimately beating this New York team pretty handily.
Week 6: Eagles @ Vikings
This will be Philadelphia’s first return to Minnesota since winning the Super Bowl there in 2018. With that in mind and the fact that they lost to this Vikings team last season, I see the birds coming out inspired and getting the win.
Week 7: Eagles @ Cowboys
Dallas swept the Eagles last year and it was not fun. Week 15 spoiler! Expect the Eagles to return the favor this season, starting with their first matchup at AT&T Stadium.
Week 8: Eagles @ Bills
Do you smell that? It’s a trap game. Although Buffalo isn’t very good on paper, I expect this game to be a battle and one that the Eagles ultimately lose.
Week 9: Eagles vs. Bears
This match-up against Chicago is the start to a quite brutal 3 game stretch that will either make or break your 2019 Eagles. Expect this matchup to be close with Philadelphia ultimately coming out on top.
Week 10: BYE
Week 11: Eagles vs. Patriots
A Super Bowl 52 rematch at Lincoln Financial? This is arguably the Eagles biggest regular season game. This matchup should come down to the wire but I expect Philadelphia to take down Brady and Belichick yet again.
Week 12: Eagles vs. Seahawks
Luckily, the Eagles don’t have to travel to CenturyLink Field to take on Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. Because of that, I see Philadelphia with the home victory.
Week 13: Eagles @ Dolphins
Miami in December? Expect the Hard Rock Stadium to be dominated by Eagles fans like they’ve done in the past at different venues. Philadelphia should control this game from start to finish.
Week 14: Eagles vs. Giants
The first matchup against the Giants comes late in the season as usual. With Landon Collins and Odell Beckham Jr. departing from the roster, I don’t expect much improvement from the NFC East basement dwellers. This should be an easy win for the Eagles.
Week 15: Eagles @ Redskins
As mentioned earlier, the Redskins just aren’t that much of a threat with their questionable quarterback play. Another win for Philadelphia.
Week 16: Eagles vs. Cowboys
Yes, like stated before, I expect the Eagles to sweep the Dallas Cowboys in 2019. Next!
Week 17: Eagles @ Giants
The backups may get a huge bulk of time during this match-up considering the Eagles should have a #1 or #2 seed locked up at this point. Due to the starters being rested, I see the Giants winning this one (congrats).
Final Record: 12-4
