With College Football already four weeks into the season it’s time to look at prospects around the country that should interest the Eagles. Reminder is that the Eagles don’t currently own a second or third round pick so this draft, like every year, is important.
Here’s the players I mentioned last week:
Sony Michel and Nick Chubb – Georgia running backs, plays Tennessee @ 3:30 on CBS
The University of Georgia, in my eyes, has a boatload of talent at the running back position. They have a three headed monster featuring two seniors (Nick Chubb and Sony Michel) and a true freshman in D’Andre Swift. All three I project to go to the NFL and be starters for their respected teams. On Saturday you’re going to see the beasts take the field against Tennessee at 3:30. Chubb leads the trio in yards with 371 and then Michel and Swift are just below the 200 marks. The best prospect out of the two back that are draft eligible is Sony Michel. Sony uses his speed, strength and vision to make plays and that’s why he reminds me of Devonta Freeman. Michel is capable as a receiver out of the backfield and the Eagles look for guys that make plays in multiple fashions. Nick Chubb, on the other hand, is more of a back that relies on his vision. It truly is the best thing Chubb brings with him. Chubb can turn a 4 yard gain into a 10+ yard carry with one simple cut. That’s something the Eagles as a unit have struggled with. Obviously, Chubb had the knee injury last year when it was looking like he would possibly be a guy drafted in the late first or early second. Because of the intense workload and injury issue I see Chubb being drafted in the mid-rounds.

Simmie Cobbs Jr – Indiana Wide Receiver, Plays Penn State @ 3:30 on BTN
When the college football season started and Ohio State played Indiana on August 31st one player stood out to me. This guy was making play after play against the Buckeyes and I didn’t even know his name until I did some research on him. The guy I’m talking about is Simmie Cobbs Jr. Cobbs has dealt suspensions and injuries for most of his career at Indiana. Tomorrow he takes on one of the best teams in college football on the road in Happy Valley. I want to see Cobbs use his 6’4” frame to go up and make a few plays like he has been. Day two is where Cobbs is expected to be drafted and if he sneaks into the third I can see the Eagles making a move to get him. The Eagles, like I keep mentioning, should still be addressing the receiver position this offseason even if Jeffery returns.
Tremaine Edmunds – Virginia Tech Outside Linebacker, plays Clemson @ 8:00 on ABC
Edmunds was one of the players on the Virginia Tech defense to step up last year big time. He started last year as a sophomore of the Hokies and the only thing he did was impress. Standing at 6’5” and weighing 250 lbs the guy is a flat out athlete. He thrives as a blitzer and in coverage. The Eagles might need to address the linebacking position if Nigel Bradham, for some reason, is not resigned. Adding Edmunds on day two in the draft would be something the Eagles should consider and he would fit in Jim Schwartz’s defensive scheme. Edmunds is an aggressive football player that is freakishly athletic and comes off as a leader.
