The Eagles have remained red-hot after the slaughtering of the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football last week. This week the Eagles are expected to continue the winning streak against a bad/unexperienced football team in the Chicago Bears. The Eagles, as a football team, haven’t should many holes even with players like; Jason Peters, Darren. Sporles, and Jordan Hicks all being out for the year. If I had to give the biggest need for next year I’d say either linebacker or offensive line. If I were the Eagles I would trade out of the first round, but of course I don’t know who exactly will be on the board when the Eagles are up.
Alright, enough of the boring talk, here are my three prospects to watch today:
Mike McGlinchey – Notre Dame Left Tackle, Plays Stanford on ABC @ 8:00
McGlinchey is one of the best prospects in the draft to begin the year, but he has struggled this year a tad compared to the years in the past. I’ve been seeing mock drafts that have McGlinchey going in the early 20’s and if that slide continues the Eagles could be in play to draft the Fightin’ Irish product. The Eagles have a comparable tackle in Halapoulivaati Vaitai, but the Eagles like having depth at the line and if McGlinchey they should pull the trigger on an elite talent like Mike. McGlinchey has the size, speed, strength and footwork to stay on the left side and Notre Dame has produced a fair share of productive offensive lineman the last few years.
Jerome Baker – Ohio State Outside Linebacker, Plays Michigan on FOX @ 12:00
Watching the Ohio State defense one of the players that stands out the most to me is Jerome Baker. Baker is directly a athlete that is what you exactly what you want in linebackers today. The Eagles don’t have a guy in the plays linebacker like Baker and in my opinion I think he could fill Nigel Bradham’s role even better. Bradham is a free agent at the end of the year and is having another really impressive year with the Eagles. I think the could realistically resign both him and Alshon Jeffery, but the Eagles might want to sign another guy in the offseason and give an extension to a guy like Jordan Hicks or Brandon Graham. If the Eagles were to let Bradham walk I could see Howie Roseman and Joe Douglas drafting a linebacker like Baker.
Armani Watts – Texas A&M Safety, Plays LSU on SEC Network @ 7:30
When I was on YouTube earlier this week this one video popped up screen with Armani Watts’s highlight real. I of course clicked on it and I noticed that this kid makes at least two big plays in every game he plays. Watts is aggressive when the ball is in the air and as a tackler. Texas A&M uses Watts similar to the way the Eagles use Malcolm Jenkins. Watts lines up in the slot, as a linebacker and also as a deep safety. The Eagles do have a need at safety with Jenkins getting up there in age, but that doesn’t;t the Eagles will use a high draft pick on one. Watts is going to be a day two guy and possibly an early day three guy. That plays well in the Eagles favor who I expect to draft a safety this year at some point.
